Re: HARSH Constructive Criticism wanted on these Drum Recordings?

I would actually find that very useful (especially the basic latin beats that I should know). Maybe not so much a video as a post or blog entry. I'm sure others would also appreciate it...

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom Bebop Riser

This is part of its attraction, the fact that the money is distributed among three drums not four, which suggests a better build quality (although this may not hold true). Yamaha hardware is as good...

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom Bebop Riser

I've heard a few problems with this kit though. Apparently the build quality is inferior to the other two kits, the tom mount is poor and I can't say any of the finishes does it for me. Also, the kit...

Yamaha Stage Custom Bebop Riser

So I am currently choosing between the Tama Silverstar Jazz and the Yamaha Custom Bebop. I like the Tama, but I hear that the riser is too far away from the bass hoop. Does anybody know whether the...

Re: Travis Barker: Underrated or Overrated? What do you think of him?

I find it funny because people get drawn into the argument even though it's a complete troll. Then comments fill up with pointless arguments, which is the fate of every single youtube video, except...

Re: Travis Barker: Underrated or Overrated? What do you think of him?

To me he now just a meme. He is mentioned in the comments of every youtube drum video because it's supposed to be funny. Is it funny though? Yes. Yes it is.

Re: If Buddy Rich were alive today, could he win the WFD competition?

To be fair to WFD, as Johnny Rabb said about it, it is only a bit of fun. You can't really be judgemental of something that people do for fun, not claiming that it is some exercise in high musicality

Re: Oh My God Chaffee's Patterns!

I get this all the time. I start working on something and then feel like I should be doing something else. Then there's all the books where people say "you could spend your life working on this once...

Re: Left Hand Single Strokes

I use the buddy rich technique. JoJo Mayer talks about it on his DVD. The first stroke is played by rotating the wrist as normal, but opening the hand out a bit so that the first two fingers travel...

Re: Review: DW Go Anywhere Practice Kit

I really don't like mesh heads myself. They're bouncy as hell and you don't get the crisp note of a practice pad which allows you to nail timing. Just my opinion

Re: Review: DW Go Anywhere Practice Kit

I have the HQ 6" Real Feel. It's a really nice pad, but it's not that much better than the DW pads, just a little quieter. I can't speak for the Gibralter bass pad but again I would be surprised if...

Re: Your book collection

I can only get anything out of a DVD if it has an accompanying pdf or book. Weird, I know

That's crazy but very cool.

Your book collection

I have a bit of a thing for drum books even though I still don't have that many. I thought I'd see what other people have. In your list embolden your favourite 2 or 3, and include a couple you don't...

I'm selling some Roland E-kit parts, useful if you're building a kit or just want an extension (appropriate hardware can be included). These are the parts:

Re: Review: DW Go Anywhere Practice Kit

Yeah I know. I've played every kind of practice pad or e kit and I swear the bass drum has never been successfully emulated. Probably a full size 20" mesh head loosely fitted would be ok. Don't know...

Re: Can a love of music (that is not your preferred genre) be learned?

I think you need to start with the right record otherwise you find yourself bored. That happened to me until I heard Art Pepper - Bernie's Tune. From there on in I'm loving finding new jazz music....

Re: NEW Odery Fluence Jazz set

Has anyone else played these? How does the kit compare with the Tama Silverstar and the Catalina Jazz? They are about the same price at the moment
