Re: I've got the "looper" blues

I've worked with loops and sequencers going way back, but I can't imagine working with a looper in this situation.

I think I'd end up throwing it out a window. Without some sort of click or...

Re: Cover Band Drummists - How accurate are you?

Also, the other players involved is a criteria.

IF they're all playing exactly like the record, then yeah.

If they're just using the song as a jumping off point for a 10 minute jam, then...

Re: Quality of new Chinese Yamahas?

I realize this is an older post, but it's kind of funny, given the original Stage Customs were made in Indonesia.

Re: Beatbox: friend or foe?

I've owned a drum machine since 1989.

It's a great practice tool.

Re: Rant: Who's in charge at Gibraltar??

Gibraltar always has some hit and misses.

It is baffling. But at the same time, I've seen some baffling releases from almost everyone at one point or another.

Re: How do you feel about buying used records?

Pre-file sharing, ipods and such:

No problem with used CDs. When the seller sells the CD, that person gives up there use of the CD. The buyer is simply buying the rights to listen to the music...

Re: Is this suspicious?

The issue is someone you've never met, nor asked to meet, is going to send you a flash drive and expects you to put it into your computer.

It's the digital equivalent of someone mailing you a...

Re: What is your opinion of this Billy Cobham review?

The one time I saw Cobham, in 1992, I had a similar experience.

Despite being a in a small intimate jazz club, Cobham's drums were tuned for, and played like, he was performing at a loud rock...

Re: Redundancy Levels Between Common Method Books?

I find most books on the market are redundant.

Re: Completely out of touch old fart irrelevant opinion - but,

This I tend to agree with. (although i think the exact sate is 1890, but close enough).
The drum set is a relatively new concept designed to play relatively new music. From early dixieland to...

Re: Anyone here play 3 up with 10/12/14 on a rack?

I used to use that exact set up a long time ago.

I can't imagine doing it now though. It does make your kit pretty high.

And even more bizarre is the band didn't even write We Built This City. They abandon material they had written for songs written by outside songwriters.

Re: The Speed Obsession

I saw that tour.

I had a bit of an opposite experience. It seemed to me like the Crimson Project was a relentless stream of dissonant notes played by 6 guys who had no interest in listening to...
