Re: Revolutionary cymbal choking technique ;)

Thanks Doc. I don't have anything really. It's only the 3rd rehearsal this coming Friday, so it's all pretty new & disjointed right now. Weird material, really difficult to settle any groove due...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

So true Grea, but all part of the marketing approach. Mass Artist sponsorship & back line industry saturation has proven to be very successful. A very good move :)

Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

Thank you, but recording will be some way away. The studio we use is fairly booked up :(

We could Mike, but not for now at least. Maybe lacquer, but nothing beyond that. I guess it's just not...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

So would I ;)

Heads were fine, if not a little scrubbed. They'd already done a fair bit of work though. Those heads on the Premier kits were just unbelievable!

Thing is, DW's marketing has...

Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

Not long now :)

We offer up to 26" in all series - 28" if you ask nicely ;)

An honest capture session is in the pipeline, but won't be for a while yet :(

Sepele is the next build, along with...

New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

This is our big announcement for the London Drum Show - the launch of our new Tour series drums. Pub, club, theatre, & live stage players have been asking for a Guru kit series focussed on live...

A rear line day - mini report.

Yesterday, I was booked to play the "Hoggin the Bridge" event at Chepstow racecourse with "Fired Up", but also to provide rear line drums for the event. It's a fairly big rally (3 - 4,000...

Re: Revolutionary cymbal choking technique ;)

Yes, I very much picked up on that, & it felt good :) Still struggling on this one though, but I'll get there.

Re: First time in EIGHT years.. I have drums set up at my place.

That's a huge huge deal right there! Wow, what a great feeling (especially if you have a strong practice regime (ahem :(

Re: Tigerwood - Grrrrrrrrr :)

It's all of those elements combined. Crutially, the differences in timber species are enhanced/more apparent because of the sum of the other design elements.

As an example, I have tiger wood &...

Re: Tigerwood - Grrrrrrrrr :)

Thank you :)

Thanks Jeff :) Actually, by default, those pictures of the undrilled shells amply demonstrate three approaches to stave shell construction. The tiger wood is an In-Tense series thin...

Re: Revolutionary cymbal choking technique ;)

Indeed :)

Yes, errand headstocks are to be discouraged, although in most cases, it's the guitar that comes off worse :)

Ok, you got me Ian. Not revolutionary at all, just dug up!

Genuinely,...

Re: Member leading other members on in a series of misleading questions in threads.

Yes, lying/exaggerating is just so lame, & most unnecessary :(

I have to get to bed early. Long rehearsal with band number 2 this afternoon, & playing an outdoor gig for 3,000+ audience with...

Re: Revolutionary cymbal choking technique ;)

:) In something compact like a trio, getting the other two players to choke your cymbals at the end of a song works well as a bit of stage show IMO.

Yeah, that 24" paper thin china is a choke...

Re: Member leading other members on in a series of misleading questions in threads.

Yes, you are a "goo dun" Wombat, but don't get consumed by the trivial. Having your time wasted is annoying, but it's to be expected. It annoys me too, so I'm with you on this, but park it &...

Re: Michel Camilo on drummers ....

Of course, I can't take this in a jazz context, because I don't exist in a jazz context. That's completely fine, because everything he said applies to everything I do. Even the part about not...

Re: Tigerwood - Grrrrrrrrr :)

Haha, yes. Of course, you'll never see zebra & tiger together outside of a zoo or similar, but in Guruland, anything is possible ;)

Re: Tigerwood - Grrrrrrrrr :)

Tuning range is vast, just the same as all In-Tense thin shell snares of which they share the same DNA. Yes, Goncalo Alves is a hardwood, but tonally a world away from oak. It has a palate much...

Re: Tempus ordered, payed in April- snare still not there

Completely appreciate your position. As the owner of a drum company, I'm in a difficult position on this too. My thoughts on here could easily be taken as self serving, but I can assure you,...

Re: Tempus ordered, payed in April- snare still not there

Grunt, as you successfully got a response last time, & to give Paul the opportunity to set things straight, any chance you can ask him why he won't provide a tracking number? It's clear that things...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

All's cool Tap :)

& yes, Grea makes a most valid point. In a highly amplified environment, nuance & grace often doesn't translate, no matter how skilfully or dynamically appropriately it's...

Re: Tigerwood - Grrrrrrrrr :)

Thanks :) Those wires aligned with deeper beds just work so well in allowing the shell tone to come to the fore. A different approach to the very open aspect of In-Tense drums, & something I will...
