Re: Yamaha Drums

Not sure if you're serious about the spurs.

But I really like the ones on my Stage Customs too. I've got the previous version and I guess they changed them a little on the 2014's. I haven't seen...

Re: First time buyer advice

Sounds like the Pearl could be the best deal - unless:

you have specific sizes you're looking for,
you have a specific number of drums, or configuration you're looking for,
you have a specific...

Re: Some Pearl Reference Pure porn ;)

Very classy looking set.

I'd have a real hard time playing it though - especially as it's set up leftie - LOL

I think the cats may have gotten onto the hat already.

Doesn't look like my hair - LOL

Re: Gretsch Renown - thinking about buying

Can you show us where? The kit in the first post is new, not used.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I've strayed from the Zildjian path a few times. But so far, I've always returned to it.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I definitely don't need any more cymbals, but this one caught my ear and I couldn't pass it up:

Re: The matching snare

I've got three kits with matching snares, but I don't use them.

Then again, I don't play out, so I don't count - ha ha.

Did you detail in another thread what you don't like about them? ...

Re: Pearl Crystal Beat Drums

Ya - that 18" bass drum is only 12" deep. A very compact kit indeed.

That floor tom on the SLS584/C doesn't look 14" deep though.

Re: Why is it you never see threads saying....

I think people do think in terms of 'cymbal sets', but everyone defines it differently.

For myself, if I get a set of cymbals, I get hi hats and two rides.

One alternate set of cymbals I've...

Re: Cutting down drums

Bwa ha ha - I've got four bass drums like that and didn't even notice it.
Something just looked 'off'. I was looking more at the depth and daydreaming about trying it.
The T screw that tightens up...

Re: Cutting down drums

Looks good.

There really shouldn't be an issue with the tom mount. Take off one of the heads, loosen the screws that hold the tom mount base, then put the shaft in. Move it around a bit
untill...

Re: Ludwig Snare (not supraphonic, not an Acrolite)?

What Steve said - just polish it up, best you can, then give it a coat of wax to help protect it.
I use Turtle Wax Chrome Polish for cleaning, and a good automotive wax for protecting.
Play, and...

Re: 2014 STAGE CUSTOM review ☞

Not sure about your link, but here in the States, there's several pricing variations.
You can get a shell pack, or get the drums with 600 series hardware, or 700 series hardware.
They also offer a...

Re: Ludwig Snare (not supraphonic, not an Acrolite)???

Even if you're not 100% sure, I'd pick it up for that price.
Looks like a Supra to my untrained eye.

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

Depends what you need them for.

Certain things can only be done with very expensive drums.

Re: Wfd starts next thursday july 17

That officially confirms that I do heel/toe incorrectly.

Oh well - it works for me.

I get two hits with one downward leg motion (heel and toe), and none on the way back up.

Re: For those interested in a Gretsch Renown...

I took a quick peek yesterday and found it at one place for that price - they had two sets left.

Not sure if this is the same place, but it has one kit left at a bit higher price:

Re: 10.000 hours of practice is not the magic number

Having 'mastered' a skill implies that it can't be done any better.

I'm not sure I agree with that concept at all.
