Re: I'm back. Did you miss me?

I kind of did. I have a foreign made 4 piece kit that is in pretty good shape(no label). It had a hideous blue wrap and I have been reading all these posts about stripping them. I used a painters...

Re: I'm back. Did you miss me?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but, I just had my second gig tonight. Though things went OK, I was just a little off the mark. I have more gigs coming up and I expect to get better. The good...

Re: When playing one up and one down...

The snare pretty much is between the toms but a little to the left.

When playing one up and one down...

...do you put the small tom left or right? Why? I normally play a 5 piece and am thinking about going to 4 and would like some ideas.

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

I started beginning band in the 6th grade. My school was small so we marched 7th through 12th grades. By the time I was in the 9th grade I was the top drummer which wasn't saying much. We got a...

Re: Great car for a drummer

That's what I use, too.

I can also fit a small kit and a pair of tympani. Unfortunately they have been discontinued so they are only available used.

Big Band drum thread.

I think we need a Big Band drum thread here. Anyone who plays in one or wants to play in one please contribute. I'll start.

I play in a 17 pc. Glenn Miller style Big Band called Talk of the...

I'm back. Did you miss me?

I have been gone from this forum since March 2014. I had cancer and part of a lung removed, radiation and chemo (which I couldn't finish), but now I am cancer free. Haven't gigged since then but...

Re: A Question To Those That Collect A Number Of Drum Kits

It's a question of want, not need. Actually they are a PITA. They are extremely heavy and hard to move around but I love them. I guess that knocks my assertion on it's head.

Re: A Question To Those That Collect A Number Of Drum Kits

I have three drum kits and all for specific reasons. Two stay set up in my studio for teaching purposes, a Pearl Forum 5 pc. and a no name 4 pc. They are both targets of opportunity. The no name...

All you Pearl experts ...

... in the grand scheme of things (ie: quality), where does the Pearl M-80 fall? Just bought a drum labeled as such.

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

I occasionally gig for money. Usually it is freebees. I save all of that money and put it away in a "drummers discretionary fund". I also have a couple of private students and that money also goes...

Re: Why is it you never see threads saying....

Well, that actually happened to me along with my drum set. When I replaced the kit, I went with the same stuff I had before (partially so I could keep my avatar) but the cymbal search was a quest to...

Re: Favorite Song to Rock out To?

One song. No album. Rock. 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago.

Now, if you're talking big band, it would be In The Mood or Sing, Sing, Sing.
