Re: Ghost notes and shell material (snare)

Ha!! My point was made..........but amongst the gloating, bleating and downright bombast, it's also important for me to mention that, your point wasn't lost either mate.

Whilst for the most part,...

Re: Ghost notes and shell material (snare)

So I take it the reason that guys like Porcaro and Gadd are/were so incredibly dynamic, creative and musical with their use of ghosts and accents was largely down to the fact that they put far more...

Re: Suggestions for an intermediate Drummer?

The first thing I'd advise a 15 year old who's just developing an interest in playing music to do is, to find a few like minded people of similar age and experience levels and just make some music...

Re: Losing an eye to a hi hat rod, injury and prevention

I would think that engaging as few as three of my most useless brain cells should be safe guard enough. But if that's a bridge too far, then maybe a warning sticker to the effect of : DO NOT IMPALE...

Re: seamlessly switching between singles and doubles around the kit

Two successive rights (or lefts) by very definition is a double stroke.....whether you use controlled bounce, fingers, moeller or two distinct wrist motions to achieve it......if you play what's...

Re: seamlessly switching between singles and doubles around the kit

Yes. It's how you develop control. Ultimately it'll be vitally beneficial to your hands.

Play it as slow as you need to in order to absorb the pattern. Speed it up as you become more competent at...

Re: Favorite floor tom size and why?

16x16.

The first percussive "rumble of thunder" I ever heard..........and if I'm honest, the last percussive "rumble of thunder" I'll ever need.

I have a 14x14 and I love that thing. I've also...

Re: Advice please?

If it were me, I'd simply tell him harden the $%#@ up and stop acting like a three year old child.....concealed weapon or not......and then I wouldn't spend another second worrying about it.

But...

Re: Funkiest 3/4 ever..

Indeed it was.

I think it was linked because it's another funky example of playing in 3 is all.

Re: Rudiments: Limited tempo range?

This again? Really?

Rudiments are an excellent tool for a variety of reasons. They have a direct application to both technical facility AND musicality alike......at any tempo. I can't believe this...

Re: Drinking and Drumming

Be sure to guard against a sniffle. I fear the cough medicine would have you rolling around shitfaced on the floor. :-)

Re: Drinking and Drumming

Hell no!! I'd never drink before posting. It might have an adverse effect on my word play. Leaving me so utterly incoherent that I'm no longer able to discern the difference between moderation and...

Re: Major Personal Milestone Achieved

Glad to hear you've finally popped your cherry mate. Raising a glass to you on this momentous occasion........and after I've had that glass I'm going to go and play my drums to see if the combination...

Re: Drinking and Drumming

Ah, the annual Temperance Movement thread. Was just thinking it was overdue this year.

Yes, it's been well established that one or two quiet beers gets the vast amount of DW drummers so...

Re: 5.5x14 Black Beauty?

Bingo. It's common to see 5.5" listed and it's almost always an incorrect measurement.

Ludwig USA don't make a 5.5" shell. Only shells outsourced from Asia (eg Supralites etc) offer that depth....

Re: What's your favorite drumset category? Drums, cymbals or hardware

Defintely drums. The sound of a drum was what lured me to pick up sticks in the first place.

Whilst I love the variety of cymbals I've collected over the years, I could never say that cymbal...

Re: Advice on setting up 'Bonzo Bash' style event in UK

You don't think that someone would help you if they thought they could offer any insight?

Come on mate. It's not like you're being blatantly ignored here is it. It's a pretty unique request that...

Re: If you had to choose....

Kill Vinnie.

And as I'm totally convinced there is nothing he can't do, bringing himself back from the dead will be easier than half the time signatures he can play in.

And still...

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

Not at all.

But given it was little more than an obvious gentle ribbing, it's pretty clear that I've hurt yours.

Re: Should I Do It?
