Re: JOJO MAYER: NEW Hot Video...

As Jojo says himself: ''I do not believe that more or less notes being played makes music better or worse, either it's music or it's not!''
What I like about him is that no matter how much notes he...

Technically: probably when I could utilize trad grip on my left hand as good as matched with my right and for some stuff even better, of course I'm still learning, technique is something where you...

Re: JOJO MAYER: NEW Hot Video...

Yes, that's a 10'' Chopper, a cool little effect thing! Goes really well together with his 10'' Fierce mini hats and those trash hats - 13'' HHX hi-hat top (he often changes the top cymbal) and 14''...

Re: JOJO MAYER: NEW Hot Video...

C'mon, that's an insult... he's more like an android, he's too fluid and plastic for a robot... :)

I planned to visit Jojo at some of his clinics in Switzerland but it turned out that at those...

Re: Jojo Mayers bass drum technique

Yeah, that's one of the best videos about his feet technique so far! Old but good! He has added some new weapons to his technical arsenal but all in all it's all based on the free stroke it's...

Re: Jungle Snare! tunning the resonant head...

I have one, too! it's a nice little effect snare drum! And no, it's not possible to tune the reso side without changing the tuning of the batter side. When you tune the batter side you tension the...

Re: Is this cheating?

That doesn't matter how tight or loose you set those springs, if you use them on bass drum pedals, that's cheating already!

Re: Drum n bass question

Since all the d'n'b is based on drum loops (like the Amen Break) which then are chopped, sampled, sped up... etc and there was no tom fills in those grooves, fills are not that important, BUT you can...

Re: gospel... how can I learn it?

You're looking in the wrong direction, a book will help you learn just some patterns but it won't make you gospel. Not totally related but the same idea -
Jojo Mayer: ''what I like about d'n'b is...

Re: Sonor vs. Yamaha Snare

1) 14x3 is not the right size for jazz, it will be too thin sounding and bright
2) your friend speaks the truth! Sonor makes some of the best snares around!
3) If you have a 14''x5'' brass snare,...

Re: Jojo Mayer Stroke

Yes, it is a VERY complex technique! I'd put in the same boat with the push-pull and other these type of variations, it's actually pretty easy to get down the basic movement, but it's extremely hard...

Re: Hey Teachers...

I find that the problem basically is the lack of technique and coordination. If your student can sing the phrase he needs to play (in time and within a context), he should be able to play it, if not,...

Re: Experienced drummers please advise

Look at it this way, you said that practicing on pillows helped you a lot, especially for doubles and triplets (did you mean triple strokes?). Now, if we want to go a bit deeper on this, the reason...

Re: I'm switching to trad, TROUBLESHOOTING. Trad experts please!

I switched to trad grip in the December of 2004 and since then I'm using trad grip as my main grip, I had a very great opportunity to learn this technique from Jojo Mayer so I had an awesome...
