To drummingman: A dose of strong and bitter tasting medicine may be in order here.

WhoIsTony? has the best advise ever in this area. I recently took it on board myself and it is tremendously...

Re: Get off your drummer's throne and

So you're looking for someone else to write something vibrant when you could just as well do it yourself. Just sayin.

Re: Billy Cobham in Hollywood tonight!

And I'm living vicariously through you when you're living vicariously through Bo. It's not quite as good as living vicariously through Bo, but there's more people so it's funner.

Re: Get off your drummer's throne and

The forum, like everything... goes through cycles. Sometimes the threads are very run of the mill. Other times a topic comes up that gets a lot of interest. Nothing is great all the time. The same ...

Re: Snare vs. Room

I use the same snare no matter the room. How I hit it depends on the room surfaces and the amount of people in the room.

Re: DIY Gong Drum

I'm still trying to figure out what I would use a gong drum for. I'm coming up blank.

Re: My speed has stalled

Ah your first plateau. These can linger for some time. An easier way is don't think in terms of speed, think in terms of control. Once you get control....speed is right around the corner. Forget...

Re: Band leaders

We bring guys in who are good players. Still, even good players need a little clue as to whats going on. We don't bring someone in unless we know they can cut it. The guitarist starts every song but...

Good video showing how Zigaboo plays "Cissy Strut"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AahAPLJODQ

It's about time I learned the right way to play it, and I found this.

Seems a bit easier to play than it sounds. It's nice to know both hands are on...

Re: Mid-range drums stock heads comparision and other features

I think the days of brick and mortar music stores are numbered. In 20 years I wonder how many will be around. Everything is going internet, it's cheaper. Cheaper almost always wins.

Re: Band leaders

I'd rather have a bandleader who knows exactly what they want, even if they're less than nice, than an easygoing guy who doesn't really have any sort of plan. A band should have a leader with a clear...

Re: Band leaders

He is tough. Not impossible though. If he likes a bass players feel and execution, he overlooks not knowing stuff perfectly and is a lot easier, fun even. You at least have to be making an honest...

Re: Band leaders

A set list for rehearsals. Wow. Our rehearsals consist of texts. I just got one last week that said: The Cars, Drive. My reply was OK got it. (I thought it was a strange choice for our band)

That...

Re: Minor Larry meltdown & other drumming shenanigans / crimes :)

It's OK Andy. Don't hate on me because I'm...pfft...perfect in every way :P

I'm glad you put that up there. It shows what I have to go through on a daily basis. I had to pretend like I didn't know...

Re: But What To Wear?

I guess this is as good a place as any to send out this PSA.

Ladies, the combination of skirts and boots....looks like crap. Don't even try and defend it. Either go with a skirt with great heels,...

Band leaders

Are you in a band that has a clear leader? If so, and you feel like playing, describe his or her style of leadership. Feel free to rant or rave. I'm interested in hearing stories of band leaders, and...

Re: Minor Larry meltdown & other drumming shenanigans / crimes :)

Not really, no you don't. Only a few people in the world understand it, and you're not one of them :P

It's not your shortcoming or anything, it's all good.

Re: Minor Larry meltdown & other drumming shenanigans / crimes :)

We did...
