Re: Bouncing problem

A port will probably solve the issue. Quick check, take off the reso. head. Is the issue solved? Simple. I'd use a smaller 4" or 5" port, then. I've never had this symptom, with 20" and 22" kicks....

Re: Selling a vintage drum set (question)

Pictures would help. If you want, you can try to find your kit here http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/pearl_drumsets.htm as far as what model and year you might have. An 5 lug "aftermarket" hoop...

Re: Selling a vintage drum set (question)

Condition means everything, especially for "serious" collectors. The missing hardware wouldn't be that hard to replace. But that would count as a negative, to a buyer. More important .... condition...

Re: 1 up, 2 down - opinion on FT sizes

With these existing sizes, I'd add a 16x16. My current kit, as set up, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16, 18x16, 24x14.

Re: vintage bulb for home decoration

I tried to follow Jay, but he outran me, and I lost him in the hall. Me, the Edison bulbs, and my 3 ply Luddies, are fine.

Re: How do I find the market value of my set?

'68 sounds right. The clear interiors (not painted) started around '68. You have fold out spurs on the bass. Ludwig started using the disappearing curved spur, around '70. So my guess, your drums are...

Re: How do I find the market value of my set?

Look up similar type kits on eBay. That'll get you in the ballpark, although items tend to sell higher on eBay, than local list services, like Craigslist. There's always interest in Ludwig kits.

Re: Why doesn't anyone make quieter drums?

And that's basically where you're gonna find drums that "project" less than more modern drum designs. Vintage Slingerland, Ludwig, Rogers, etc. Thin shells with reinforcement rings. Want a kit with...

Re: Hihat Problem...

Not all hi-hat rods are the same diameter. Your clutch looks like it's made for a larger rod ...... like a Gibraltar hi-hat. Yamaha has a smaller diameter rod, and your clutch might not have enough...

Re: Worth rims mounting?

Keep what you have, and save your money. The difference between what you have now, and a RIMS system, would be slight, if any.

Re: My final jazz drum set. Is it good? Anything i can improve on?

Personally, I like Yamaha 600 and 700 series hardware. That's what I have. But the Gibraltar stuff that comes with that Cat. will do in a pinch. Are you gonna be gigging with this kit? Repeated...

Re: My final jazz drum set. Is it good? Anything i can improve on?

If you're buying the kit new, think about getting a used one. I'd also opt for a 20 inch bass, instead of the 18....

Re: Ordered a Whitney nesting kit

I was at a drum parking lot sale, in San Diego, and a guy there was selling one. What a great sounding drum kit. The drums sounded rich. Really well built, and a lot of thought went into the design.

Re: Any Rogers experts here care to take a look at this ad?

Those shells were 5 ply, maple/poplar, with reinforcement rings. It would take a lot of work, to restore those. Looks like they were painted blue. Rough finish. Throw in all the hardware that's...

Re: Bizare Ludwig Shell, help!

Another possibility is that a prior owner stained the inside. Looks like the bearing edge is also stained. 6 ply shells were maple/poplar. Both light colored woods. Looking at the holes for the...

Re: No more slave pedal please!

The Sonor, and the Off-Set (I had one of those) are both center pedals, but differ from the Sleishman in that they both use drive shafts. In essence you wind up with two slave pedals.
