Re: Is Tama a Bad Company?

This is excellent lateral thinking, & one important reason why we didn't patent Origin designs. If we're lucky enough for one of the big boys to copy our design (not that easy to replicate in mass...

Re: Drum store being sued

Yes, medical cover is provided through taxation. I'm assuming the basis of the claim is compensation for discomfort, lack of sleep, reduced sex life, reduced cape recovery skills, cost of new cinema...

Re: Looking for new kit with vintage sound?

You have no idea how close to reality that is sometimes. Bolt on a hobby router table, Asian hardware catalogue, & online badge maker, & you're there! (& yes, I know a piece of glass is a really...

Re: Popcorn porn :)

Nor have I, but I have used a side snare before with some success.

It certainly is - what an idiot! Easily remedied though :)

Thank you.

Quite difficult to compare, as honestly, my...

Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

Yes, it is indeed my work ;) I stand by it too!

Certain musical applications indeed. These drums are designed to be sonically near bombproof. Easy to tune, big fundamental tone, & most...

Re: Exceptional Customer Service from Gon Bops / Sabian!

That's great to hear at a time when reporting instances of poor service seems so prevalent.

Re: Drum store being sued

It's a drum shop - what did she expect, gentle Gallic harp caressed by an angel wearing cotton gloves? Anyhow, why can't her son buy his own ear protection? Is this in fact the "cape recovery mum"...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

Yes!!!! Something to take the heat off my wind chimes & quell the hoard of sad b&$%ds who lack the imagination (& frankly, the talent) to put me down on anything wholesome ;) ;) ;)

Yippee! ...

Popcorn porn :)

Zebrano (Zebrawood) solid stave 10" popcorn snare. Stunning tone for it's size. Built as a one off special with In-Tense series mini lugs & stainless steel M5 (Fine) tension screws. This one might...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

I mostly agree with your thoughts on this, but it's not one leading the other, they're symbiotic. It's a snowball effect, & a very well crafted one at that. The artist roster swells partially as a...

Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

I completely concur with this. In fact, I'm sure Les is stealing my lines from other threads ;) Some of the worst drums I've ever heard have been solid shell drums, & some of the supposed high end...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

Haha, yes, that little feller is a star. He's the son of one of the event crew I think. This is soundcheck just as the first punters are arriving (I hate late sound checks :( The wind was brutal...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

Nah, "Jump" is real easy Grea. Even the solo section that nobody seems to get right is easy when you know the downbeat accents. "Comfortably Numb" is a right bastard, & here's why:

1/ Starting...

Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

There's nothing cutting edge or revolutionary about these drums. Origin & In-Tense are our "out there" instruments, but that doesn't mean they're wacky, just distinctive & focussed in their...

Re: Q Drum Co.

Very exciting! Nothing better than the feeling of new drums arriving :)

I'm looking forward to trying these drums out at LDS in two weeks time too :)

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

Yes, this kit was deliberately way out, & a morph from the experimental kit featured here with 3 x 10" toms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgFt6QFzfEM

It would take about 4 months to craft that...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

Hahaha, yes, it seems like a fairly intense moment. Still coping with the disabled finger too, so everything's a bit more animated than usual.

Just looking at this photo though reminds me of just...

I could almost have written that myself :) :) :)

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

If the "engineer" isn't used to mic'ing a full resonant head bass drum, the best initial approach is one of empathy & firm reassurance. Suggest he mic's the front head pretty close if he has spill...
