Re: Yamaha Drums

Wow, that's a nice kit. I'm jealous. I've heard of quite a few people having 9000's and will not turn loose of them. Congratulations.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I don't know what to do with a music stand, but Roc-N-Soc is a great throne.

Re: The matching snare

I had a matching snare with my 88 tour custom kit. I never liked it. I used my Rogers Dyna. all the time. So I sold the Yammy in the 90's. I regret it. I think I'd really like it today.

Re: What full albums do you like to drum along to?

Boston's debut album is one. There a several Foghat albums that I play most all the songs on. I have a 90 Min. tape that I play along with, that's all Foghat. I use to play them all the time. Not so...

Re: Ongoing hi hat problem

Pearl's low end stuff might not be so hot. I know their high end stuff is great.

Re: Not denting heads

As a player of 40 + yr. My denting went away as I became a better drummer. I guess my technique improved as I got older. I never dent them anymore. I do remember in the 80's I was denting my heads...

Re: Yamaha Club Custom (2001) with a history

Nice kit. I don't think I've ever seen those before. I bet they are great drums. I have PTC's from the 80's. Mah/Birch I've always liked them. Congrats.

Re: Ongoing hi hat problem

Sounds like you sould get a higher quality clutch, or torque it down real tight. There are some real fancy ones on the market now. I've got a Yamaha and a old Tama. They both work fine.

Re: Considering a new kit

Another happy Tour Custom owner. I've got a 88 model 5pc. power sizes. They've been great drums. I upgraded to 2009 Birch Custom Absolute Nouveau. When I first got them, I had the same heads on them...

Re: Do you ever stand back from your drums...

Lots of times before I close the door on my way out of the drum room, I'll stop and look at them for a couple of seconds. Then I think man I'm blessed.

Re: Removing the wrap from old Ludwigs?

When mine went up, it was very quick and short lived. Just like you are saying. I don't remember any shell damage, but we were recovering them with wrap, so if it did get damaged, I might have...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

I don't thinks there's much difference between top and mid level kits now days. I'm not knocking Yamaha, but I've heard, and played many mid level kits that that sound as good as my BCAN kit. I love...

Re: Removing the wrap from old Ludwigs?

I'd be careful using heat. Those old Ludwigs will go up in flames pretty easy. I had that happen once. It's was very quick, and only burnt up the wrap, not the shell. Scared the daylights out of us....

Re: Does anyone else hate splash cymbals?

I've got 2. A B8 10" that I like, and a 13" AA El Sabor salsa splash. I've always considered the 13 a crash. Lately I've not been using either one. I do like them both though.

Re: YAMAHA QC fail! ☹

I don't understand what difference in quality, it could possibly make? If you are talking about the batter and reso lugs not being perfectly in line with each other. It's purely cosmetic to me. I...

Re: Am I the only one here that hated the Kick Port?

I first used it on my 20" kick with stock heads PS3 batter and Yamaha reso, it sounded great. Then I put it on my 22" with an SK1 batter, and same reso. as the 20". Still sounded great. Then I...

Re: Pearl Vision Birch - please help!

I'm not an expert, but I would expect visions to be better than that. If you can put several pieces of paper under the shell, I don't think that is very good. I don't think the hoops should fit...

Re: Ben White I'm impressed

I think Ben plays rock and jazz styles. At least what I consider rock and jazz. I know I've watched him play the constant crashing, instead of riding on top, and slam pretty hard on the cymbals on...
