Re: Talking salespeople down in price

The car shoppers are still haggling, they just have more tools at their disposal. If you don't haggle, your salesman just made way more money than they would have been happy with. I just hate to...

Re: The false perception of Luan

Yea, it was a guy named Eddie and it happened only once lol. You're not allowed to do that but he did and was punished.

Re: The false perception of Luan

It's impossible for inexpensive wood to sound good in a drum.

Isn't that a rediculous statement? It's wood! Wood sounds great. I wonder what a balsa drum would sound like. Pretty warm I bet.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

My unpopular drumming opinion of the day:

Learning a standalone drum fill/chop at practice, only because it sounds completely bitchin....but with the intention of squeezing it in somewhere,...

Re: Pete Best and Beatles - I Am The Walrus

I saw what you did there lol. You continue to slay me Hollywood! Keep em coming! And BTW, I really like your avi with your Pop. Very classy and very classic.

I really need to record the e drum...

Talking salespeople down in price

Everybody wants a great deal, to pay a little and get a lot. Does anybody feel bad when they try and talk someone down? I feel like I am being a jerk and taking money out of their pockets. If I don't...

Re: Pete Best and Beatles - I Am The Walrus

Poor Pete. Insult to injury. Kick a man when he's down. Funny? The funny part is offset by the poor taste. Now get off my lawn!

Re: Tour buy in: yes or no?

The whole premise....pay to tour....very deflating. Kinda bums me out that the business has come to this. That's like me paying someone so I can do electric work on their house. Yea that's not going...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

I'm just guessing about the 8". I know nothing about e drums or this particular kit. I will meet them this Saturday.

Re: Extra sharp chisel 1 - finger 0 :(

Oh man Andy, I feel your pain. I can count probably 30 scars on my 2 hands from working with electric. Is the wound topside of your fingey? I think that's much preferable to a bottom cut. Did they...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

Probably not, I rarely video, sorry. Maybe audio, but no promises. I usually don't post playing anymore.

The reason I say toys are the size. An 8" pad for a snare drum will feel like a toy to...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

Lar, I can't dispute that reasoning. I would still need one ear off though, but hey I'll do what I need to. I'll be taking a cue from the drummers that go before me. At least I think there are others...

Re: Converting programmed drum parts to acoustic kit

IDK, Ands if you play the exact notes of that beat with good meter/tempo, the right unrelenting attitude, and the proper dynamics....what more can you do? OK get the sound of your drums to sound...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

Jim thank you for the reverse psychology approach. I'd also like to thank toddmc and yakbutter for employing the same tact. You guys really have my back, and it will always be remembered lol.

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

More like taking a naked body plunge in ice cold water. Hey better late than never. I like to think of it as young at heart, not 30 years behind the times lol. Attitude is everything lol.

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

This is an unpaid thing for me, (and the rest of the people I'm playing with) I'm only doing it because I want to play with my guitar guy, and I like festivals. So I'm not lifting a finger other than...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

It's called humor Louis :) I'm not going on at 3 AM. The whole thing was a big fat misdirection. And yea, I do want to be able to muffle the electronic drums, good tip on the moongel. :P

But...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

I'll be playing in Anaheim Ca.

OK that was a lie. It's Pittsburgh.

That was a lie too. Actually it's in Bethel, NY.

OK that was a lie as well.

It's in Wheeling WV. We go on at 3 AM. At...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

I have no choices or say here. If I didn't open my big mouth, I wouldn't even be on the gig lol. Not even sure who I bumped. Everyone else will be playing the same kit. I look on it as a challenge....

Re: Another Frustrated Drummer....

In a situation like that where I can't hear anything to latch on to, I look to the bass player and try and listen what he is doing to try and sync up with him somehow. Is his playing in those types...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

Yes I've been told!

But Madge I'm gonna suck! I will have no dynamics, no real cymbals to finesse and everyone will laugh at me and I will run away and trip on my cape and get thrown out by...

Re: Straying out of my comfort zone

I literally never leave home without a full kit. But it's a multi band thing and we play for only one hour. So if there's equipment failure....at least it should make for a great thread.

Re: I've got the "looper" blues

I am situated between the bass player and the guitar player, so the bass player hearing the loop is even harder than me hearing the loop. Besides, the bass player can't hear that well. He's not the...
