Re: Cheaper alternatives?

Some fine advice offered in this thread: http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119664

Why would you ignore it only to start another thread?

Re: Ludwig purchasing rant.

If I'm reading the OP correctly, I don't believe he was looking to deal direct with Ludwig themselves. I think it's a given to anyone over the age of 10 that there is a process that needs to be...

Re: Ludwig purchasing rant.

If they do, they've always been far too sheepish to let us know they're here.

Unfortunately, you're not the first to ask that question......and I'll wager you won't be the last.

Don't get...

Re: Drum heads, what to buy for my son's kit??

Do you possibly mean the Ambassador, Bob? I reckon a 10mil reso is a far more common choice than the Diplomat.

Re: How do I get this weird sound? Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer"

Jesus. What is it with you Yanks and yer bloody guns? Is there honestly no situation where your first thought is NOT to just start blasting away at something? :-)

Seriously, if you trust the...

Re: "Play something." What do you play?

At least you've picked the right material. After all, we know how much Buddy hated to show off.

Re: "Play something." What do you play?

I lay down a groove. I don't have a dedicated "go to" beat, just whatever comes to mind.

Re: Beatbox: friend or foe?

In your case I'm gonna say, friend.

Imagine just how much fun you're gonna have when you develop the skillset to play the beats you come up with. It'll give you a goal to aim for........doesn't...

Re: Redundancy Levels Between Common Method Books?

Appreciate your input and perspective, men. Many thanks for your thoughts.

Couldn't help myself. Dawson's Complete Vocab is also now on it's way to me too. Along with the technical/mechanical...

Re: an epiphany

Great news!!

Here's another epiphany. If you put wheels on the bottom of your carriage, it makes it a hell of a lot easier for your horse to drag around. :-)

Re: Is this suspicious?

We might not have evidence, but I'd like to lay a bet on what's really going on here......a sizeable one at that.

Really mate, would you send unsolicited emails en masse for a one off $50 sale?...

Re: Is this suspicious?

Spam? It's more than spam. It's clearly a case of good, old fashioned piracy. I'm sure Mike Johnston would be delighted to hear someone's flogging his wares for less than their true value.

Or...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Hell, I walked into it loooooong after day one.

Although I'd tinkered with it from time to time over the years, I started as a matched player and was content to play that way for many many years....

Redundancy Levels Between Common Method Books?

Just ordered a copy of Dahlgren and Fine's 4-Way Coordination. I've never been much of a reader and I'm making a great effort to rectify that so I've quite enjoying delving into (or in some cases...

I've always got a giggle out of: "Do not post links to “hilarious” videos of stupid people doing stupid things"

Clearly it's felt we have enough "stupid people doing stupid things" of our own,...

Re: 68 Supraphonic???

A lot of thought going into this mate. Perhaps too much thought, if I'm honest. If it's round, in good nick and gives you a sound that pleases you when you hit the thing. Have at it.

Supra's are a...

Re: 68 Supraphonic???

They originally came with 1.3mm triple flanged hoops (your '68 drum is likely to have these), whereas nowadays Ludwig use 2.3mm.

The other hoops you'll be thinking of are die cast. They are much...

Re: 68 Supraphonic???

As far as how they work, none. The mechanism is exactly the same. The difference is purely aesthetic. The older P-83's also have the little holes so that the wires can only be attached using snare...

Don't know the back story. Just checking out some of your vids now. I take it the technique is not recognised, yeah? Which hand do they have a problem with, right or left?

Re: Two and four groovy or... Not?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5aXJ83Qeoc

Sounds like he's grooving from where I'm sitting.

This bloke doesn't seem to be doing too bad a job of grooving 2 and 4 here either (he deviates, but...
