Re: 2 rack toms vs 2 floor toms

I, like you, like to play a 24" kick drum. But, I've always loved playing a 2-up kit. So, when I was pondering what sizes my Jenkins-Martin kit would be, I went with a 15x22 bass drum, it plays and...

Re: Anybody seen these yet?

My buddy, a DW endorser, loved them so much, that he took them out on tour with Stephen Stills. They are the wood-hooped version.

Re: Hal Blaine's Monster set w/ Donn Bennett

Cool video. Donn is mistaken in one part of the video though. When he states the sizes, he says 6,8,10,12,13,14,&15. The last tom was a 16, not a 15. When we built Bermuda's Monster kit, he added a...

Re: Trying out the Dunnett R4-L strainer

Hey Bo,

You'll like the R4L. I just snagged one from Ronn in Chicago and installed it. I have a great dislike for the P85, so I've been running my 402 with a Trick for several years now. I...

Re: Gig this Saturday by the beach!

Hey Bo,
What are you going to do with your old mounts? I may want them, let me know.

Re: George Way Drum Co. ?

I did help out Ronn this year at the NAMM show, as he hurt his back and was unable to attend. I did get a good, up-close look at these drums and they are very impressive. Carter McClean is a great,...

Re: Larry made it!

Larry is on the left, I'm on the right. It was really nice meeting Bo and Larry. Jon and I have known each other for about eight years now, he's a great guy!

Oh BTW Bo, it was also nice meeting...

Re: Bo is available ;)

Good luck Bo. Can you pm me your phone # as I may need a solid sub for some gigs this year.

BTW, I think you may need to change your location in the upper right corner ;-)

Re: The official, "Your services are no longer required" thread

Hang in there Bo and keep your head held high. Like Harry said, one door closes, another one opens.

Re: Carmine Appice Lobbies For Led Zeppelin Drum Spot

I've watched the 2007 O2 show several times, and I think Jason nailed that show. The only song that I thought was a little off was Since I've Been Loving You. Robert Plant said the remaining Zeppelin...

Re: No love for 20" bassdrums?

I never thought I would like a 20" bass drum, but I have really warmed to my 12x20 Blaemire bass drum. I use it on a couple tight stage gigs, and its just the punchiest little thing. It also brings...

Re: Who does this, really?

It takes me two minutes to unbag a four piece kit. I don't see what the big hassle is with using bags. Just my .02.

Re: When soundmen attack

Whenever I play a new venue, I'm prepared to swap out the reso if needed. I've learned to get a good sound with either reso head anyway.

Re: Great car for a drummer

The BMW 5 series cars have tons of room. I have an '84 528e, and a '92 525i. Bass drums, as long as they're not 18" deep, fit through the back doors. Trunks have tons of room.

Re: Ludwig P-85 rant

I know Ludwig updated their new (P33) butt plates, but there are a few flaws while doing so. They should have kept the mounting hole spacing the same, so that you could swap it out with the P32....

Re: Ludwig P-85 rant

I use a stubby screwdiver, as it is way easier to handle, and alot less likely to slip. I know this isn't the answer you want, just trying to help a bit.

Re: acrylic timbales?

I've made some timbales from spun-fiberglass Blaemire shells. This one pictured is a 3x12 original Blaemire cutoff piece. It definitely is more timbale sounding than concert tom sounding.

Re: Am I the only one here that hated the Kick Port?

Tried it on my 14x24 Blaemire bass drum, absolutely killed the sound. I ended up putting it on a reso head for a PDP kit that I picked up for my nephew, The previous owner had butchered the hole, and...
