there are solos and playing sections on the DVD that I took as much from as his explanation of the system

the menu screen alone is worth the price tag

lots of stuff that you just don't get...

I also think you are downplaying Gadds contributions to those records and performances a bit as if he was some mindless robot playing what he was told to play 100% of the time

I never once said or even implied in any way that one style of playing was better , more affective, more interesting or even compared it in any way to another...

and I don't expect anyone to agree with me .... but in my mind anyone who is experimenting , improvising in any way , or as you say "feel the impulse to throw somethings out...

I agree with everything you say here

but I would not trade my pre internet learning for anything in the world.....

it forced me to listen to music .... which believe it or not barely happens...

you would learn to swing

which is a huge aspect missing from most lessons today .... mostly due to the fact that the people teaching for the most part cannot swing

the term "tick tock" comes from the times of pendulum clocks where you actually heard "Tick Tock" .... two different sounds..

I require and regimented audition to qualify for lessons.
but back when I was starting out I did not have that luxury.
