I started out on Forums and then bought the cat jazz.

all i can say is go for it.
They are great for the price,
the stock heads are G1s so thatll save you some dough in the long...

If i were you id save up my money and buy a real gretsch catalina.
If memory serves me they are around $750 (correct me if im wrong)

On a side note, if youre buying a new set, what is your budget?

I think for your price range that set is great, and its just a bonus that those are the sizes you want.

If you wanted to spend a little more you could get the catalina maple,
but they wouldnt be...

Well you can get the force 3007 studio set for around $1000.
