Re: Shell Tap Tone

I recorded the tone of my 2 rack toms without heads and hoops. I did have the lugs still intact. When I played it back to tune my toms to that pitch, I was already tuning them to that pitch, at least...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

I agree with axis in that you're playing a lot faster then 120 in your video. I think maybe you're not counting BPM's correctly.

Re: Drummers you thought sucked,but...

I thought John Bonham didn't know how to play the drums right, when Black Dog came out. I was only about twelve then, so I didn't have much sense. Come to think about it, I still don't have much...

Re: Lacquer vs Wrap - how much does it really matter?

Bo, that cracked me up. I'm with the others here. I can't tell any difference between wrap, and lacquer.

Re: Jazz and Matched Grip

I'm glad you posted about this, as I've wondered the same. I've played matched for 40+ yr. Every now and then I'll hold the sticks traditional, and man it just feels so weird. I don't Jazz but I've...

Re: What will it take for me to be able to do this?

[QUOTE=toddbishop;1330766]That's not right. He's playing "French" grip with a couple of things on the cowbells, but the busy stuff on the drums is a ~normal snare drum grip. The only place I'm seeing...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Mister Zero, I feel your pain. I think it's been 10 or more yrs for me. I've only bought one book, Dom Famularo's pedal control, and one CD, Jason Bittner's what drives the beat. I've watched...

Re: Is Don Henley relevant here?

I've always considered Don to be a great drummer and singer. When I say great I mean that he made great music, not that he could out drum all the others. When you're the drummer for a band that is...

Re: Kickport, does it really make a difference??

I put a kick port in my 18X20 Yamaha BCAN with stock heads (PS3 I think) and it sounded a lot better. I also used it on my 22 (same drum series) again it sounded better. I later put an old SK1 on the...

Re: Questions re Yamaha's tight fitting tension rods

I stand with Mike Stand. Lol. I've had yamies like that for a few yrs. now and it did bother me at 1st. I've always used a lot of feel when I tune. Kind of like human torque wrench. I just developed...

Re: Ebay dissapointment

I was pretty sure it was an honest mistake. A++ sellers wouldn't do that deliberately. Probably a disappointment for him too. He didn't beat around the bush though. The 1st thing I heard from him was...

today the seller sent me a shipping label and apologised for the wrong size. He said he would refund my money as soon as he sees the tracking number showing that I shipped the hi hat back to him.

A few days ago I bought a 13" pair of old Z hats. When they arrived yesterday, they were really 14" I double checked the size on my ebay page, and they were clearly labeled 13" dyno beats. This...

Re: New Tama StarClassic Bubinga setup

Nice kit congratulation. I've always been a big fan of Tama bubinga and the SC performers also. I just think they sound real rich, lots of deep tone. Happy drumming.

Re: 12x10 Tom

I have a 10x12 on my old yamaha kit. I can't tell a whole lot of difference between that one and the shallower one on my newer kit. I think they sound about the same with the same heads on them....

Re: 7/8 groove with shifting hihat pattern

Very cool. I need to learn how to play those nearly constant grace notes on the snare like you do. I see a lot of drummers doing that now, and I like it. Nice video.
