Re: I'm getting into this now

His playing is truly amazing.

You must also purchase a copy of Tim Watterson's DVD if you are going to get serious about bringing your foot speed to that level.

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta Technique Question

When you already have the capability to play something, it won't take long to learn a particular set of exercises. For example, because I've spent time with The New Breed, I find that it's really...

Re: Thomas Lang bass drum practice pad thingy?

Do these devices do any harm to your pedals? It seems a bit harsh to be pounding on a solid surface.

Re: Claus Hessler

I have studied Claus's work extensively. He is one of my favorite drummers. His phrasing is some of the most unique of all players today.

I worked from "OpenHanded Playing Vol 1" for about a year,...

Re: Virgil Donati

"In This Life" is my new favorite album of all time. Virgil isn't just a monster drummer. He's an outstanding composer and arranger, as well. 3 years in production, and well worth the effort!

It's...

Re: Daily Drumset Workout by Claus Hessler

I also contacted Claus Hessler, because I'm doing an article on the new DVD on my website www.prodrumblog.com

Re: Daily Drumset Workout by Claus Hessler

I'm also very excited about the DVD. I spent about a year working with Open Handed Vol1 daily. Again, his approach is oriented around technical development and the Moeller technique is the...

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta

Here's a special treat: Vinnie with Karizma in 2001.

NO HOLDING BACK. The compositions set them up to give it everything they have, and the connection...

Re: "Get Lucky" - John JR Robinson with Daft Punk

It sounds like Omar tearing it up on "Giorgio by Moroder" and "Beyond." His style is pretty easy to distinguish from JR, from the hi-hat alone.

I just want to know what kind of mic they're using...

Re: "Get Lucky" - John JR Robinson with Daft Punk

Yeah I got the DVD for less than $10 usd.

I can't remember the name of the guitarist on the session videos on it, but wow . . . the tone . . . *mind blown again*

"Get Lucky" - John JR Robinson with Daft Punk

I heard this and immediately ordered his DVD.

Honestly, I haven't heard a groove like this since the legendary recordings of Jeff Porcoro and Carlos Vega. The production is also exceptional.

Re: Hang Drums - Newb Questions

Hmm. I definitely can't throw down $2000 for a hang. Does anybody know who else manufactures similar instruments?

I have decided that I want to start playing hang drums. However, I know nothing about the materials, manufacturing, companies, etc. I'm interested in buying professional quality gear, but I don't...

Typically German, but can be executed in all positions. See Dom Famularo's video lessons for an excellent explanation of the related concepts.

Re: Gretsch Catalina Maple 7 Piece

I've enjoyed my Catalina Maple for many years. Not as responsive as pro level maple kits, but still a joy to play. Great deal with those cymbals!

Re: Just Bought a Ludwig Classic Maple - Need Snare

Ah, I did some homework and found out the Acro has the same alloy as the Supra, just without the shiny chrome finish. With any luck, I'll be picking one up for $125 tonight!

Re: Just Bought a Ludwig Classic Maple - Need Snare

Yup, lots of great thoughts here. I'm going to order a matchiing snare for the kit in April. In the meantime, I need to jam!

How does the Acrolite feel compared to the Supraphonic? I can pick up...

Re: For those wondering about the Evans Level 360 heads

Yeah, the Aquarian heads seat smoothly as he demonstrates, too. Not sure if it makes any difference, though, since you end up tightening the head against the bearing edge as you tune, anyway.

Re: Just Bought a Ludwig Classic Maple - Need Snare

Thanks for the help! I'll be picking up the kit next week, so I'll have pics then.

I think it would be great to have a matching CM snare, but I'm going to hold off on ordering that for now.

Drummerworld TurnTable?

Does anybody want to nerd out with me on TurnTable? We can listen to music and talk about our favorite drummers. It should actually be a lot of fun.
