Re: Cymbal/Tom stand stabilization

Like Bo said, some pictures would help us determine the problem.
I prefer to use a heavy duty stand when I am hanging a tom. I use combination tom/cymbal stands that are designed to hold toms and...

Re: Mapex Saturn vs Premier Genista

I have never played a Genista but I can vouch for the quality of the earlier Saturn drums.
They are well crafted and they sound awesome. They have a full tuning range. I will also give you a heads...

Re: New Kit DW Performance

I am a long time fan of the PS3. Those heads can do anything that you ask of them.
I use both coated and clear types as batters.

Re: Where have all the Bop Kit threads gone?

My early 50's Gretsch Broadkaster kit in 22, 13, 16 sizes was considered to be a Bop Kit in its day.
It is listed in the catalogue from the era as the BroadKaster Bop Kit.
I know where you can buy...

Re: Drum heads, what to buy for my son's kit??

Re: Drum heads, what to buy for my son's kit??

The standard go to head setup for Rock and hard hitting is Remo Emperor over Remo Ambasador. Or, Evans G-2 over G-1.
Use a 2 ply head on top and a single ply head on the bottom. Head combos like...

Re: tension rods. maintanance

Silicone based lubricant is commonly used along with light machine oil. If the threads are tight because of wear then the lug and the tension rod should be replaced.

If you want to mount a single tom on your bass drum with the new Atlas Mount then you have to buy the Atlas Arch mounting system.
You can also the second L arm in the double mount that was shown to...

Re: Annoyed and disappointed with myself

I played to 1000 people two weeks ago and to an empty house last Sat night.
Gigs come all ways.
Never accept a gig for drinks. Always take cash.
It is up to the band to play to the volume of the...

Re: Club Date SE or Signet?

Tough call. I own the CDSE in the 22, 13, 16 config and I love it tightly tuned. I also own vintage kits from Ludwig, Slingerland, and Gretsch so I have comparisons. I have never played a Signet kit...

Re: New Gretsch 3 ply Broadkaster line

They overdid the yellowing of the replicated aged WMP wrap.
Gretsch should offer them with optional calfskin BroadKaster heads too.

RobertM, the original 3 plies were made in house by Gretsch....

Re: How Far for a Paid Gig will you travel?

That's normal for todays market. There is no money in music. I get $100 to play at campgrounds that are an hour or more away. The local clubs pay about $80.
I even get stiffed sometimes if the club...
