Re: Musicians Union?

But that's my point. They don't do anything to serve themselves or advocate for musicians. And thus, no one pays attention to them.

Which again is my point. Gigs don't demand their...

Re: Musicians Union?

Some of the blame goes on the Union itself.
So many times in the past I'd call the Union, and get put on hold, disconnected, forwarded to a voice mail box that full, or otherwise found myself...

Re: How sentimental are you about your drums?

Very.

Yes, I've sold some drums before.

But my Premier Signia I will never ever sell. It was my first pro kit, and it's been with me on so many gigs and such. Plus I have dang near every add...

Re: Two floor toms....

I never really got into the two floor tom thing either.

I was over paid to get the discontinued, matching 18" floor tom for my kit, and I rarely use it. I just don't care for how much I have to...

Re: tama superstar classics? maple?

There is no connection.

There really isn't.

Tama just ran out of names, and started re-using them.

Re: Going from tight hi-hat to ride cymbal during songs - ride cymbal ideas

Now, see, I'd prefer this idea.

But if you think it's in the way, perhaps move it over so it's just above or just to the side of your main hi-hats?

Because I just don't see how a different...

Re: tama superstar classics? maple?

^ This.

I assumed this thread was about the early 80's classic Super Stars, which were birch.

Now we have Superstar classics that are maple. Confusing!

Re: Ringo and Greg Bissonette sitting in with Toto

Greg Bissonette has toured with Toto before. He filled for Simon Phillips when Simon was ill. So no surprise he sounds good doing a Toto song with the Ringo band.

Re: rare yamaha stage custom ive bought

They would look close, but not exactly the same.

RC's were a little more glossy, a little more intense, SC a little more flat.

Re: Thoughts On Phil Collins??

I still can't figure out how in the 80's he was able to record with Genesis, put out solo albums, and do session work with Eric Clapton, Robert Plant and so many others.

There is like a 6-8 year...

Re: rare yamaha stage custom ive bought

The only link that I can find is this, that says the Stage Custom was introduced in 1996
http://asia.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/drums/special/absoluteknowledge/history/

But I...

Re: rare yamaha stage custom ive bought

Nope, they were made in Indonesia.

I remember setting up the very first shipment of Stage Customs at the story I was working at at the time, and noticing the label and thinking "Made in...

Re: Real Band Dilemma....

I agree you need to talk to the other guys if they want to gig more.

Quite frankly, with all going on in my life, your band sounds like a dream to me. I've gigged plenty in my life. These days,...

Re: John Bonham Snare on the bay

Ludwig has always said they never kept track of serial numbers.

Serial numbers were only added by Ludwig so the the customer could keep track of their own drums.

Re: John Bonham Snare on the bay

I have to agree there is not enough provi to prove this was Bonham's snare drum.

Part of their proof is "Comes with pages of internet print offs and newsletters about Johns Ludwig Swirl Kit."...

Re: I'm in a Band - And I Have a Problem

I'd still go check out the second one.

You haven't been in the 1st band long enough to know if it will last.

Re: The Clave Police

On youtube there are a lot of "Police"

There are the "that double bass isn't as fast as so-and-so" Police

"That jazz isn't authentic enough" Police.
