My reasons exactly.

I have a beast of a Free Floating brass 14x6.5 main snare and a Pearl Piccolo 13x3 Maple. 2 contrasting sounds that work well for different songs/parts of songs.

Yeah...line out on the brain too line in on the computer would be better. MIDI can be a right pain to set up. Unless you plan on quantizing go MIDI. If you just want audio then go for the line out...
