Re: Drum Size Question

We sometimes build to odd depths Jim, but it's never as a result of calculation. A standard depth for one series of snares we produce is 5.75". The reason behind it is simple. In that design, we...

Re: Drum Size Question

Sorry I'm late to the party Jim.

Ok, I'm going to be a bore, & start by restating something that purveys everything we do in drum design - Features / specifications (& that includes depths) in...

Re: Anika Nilles

This is the best thing I've heard from Anika (IMHO). More musical, less complexed, more open, more free. Playing with a band suits her so well. I like most of her choices :)

My favourite bit?...

Re: Where's Magenta?

They win if you let them, or even acknowledge their existence as a cohesive enemy in the first place. You & I need to talk.

In the public arena, perhaps someone who knows a little bit about the...

Re: pdp Concept Wood Hoop kit NAMM 2015

Someone will love them, & they've got to be better than those super deep hoops being touted around a few years ago. It's the patented plastic cattle they harvest this material from that I feel sorry...

Re: The Bo Eder Pearl Vision Signature kit ;)

I'm sorry. I don't mean to beat up on someone else's drums. Your Visions obviously hit the mark for you, & that's great. My comments are severely tainted by my experience with my son's Vision kit....

Re: 24" bass drum - 10" main snare, surely not?

I'm with you Larry, & with you on the whole small snare thing too (as a main snare), but it's surprisingly easy to get into consistent rimshot mode with this snare. I suppose it depends on how...

Re: Brain fart

Laughing idiot is certainly a term of endearment. Very few possess the ability to truly laugh at themselves. It's a talent in itself, & probably the best de-stressing safety valve there is. Keeps...

Just a wonderful picture, & so pleasing that you'll be back playing with the guys soon. Looks like a blast!!!

Re: Is "pocket" what you play or how you play it?

This is true. Attach time attention to the spaces, & dynamic attention to the notes. That's a great foundation for gentleman's vegetables jigglingly deep pockets :)

Re: The Bo Eder Pearl Vision Signature kit ;)

Bo, I can't get excited about this, I just can't. It's not that there's anything wrong with the principal of making a family out of orphans, hell, I'm from an orphanage myself, but it's the Visions...

Re: Unanswered Threads

Agreed, that can be annoying, especially if you've spent some time giving a detailed reply. I make a point of replying to those who take time to respond to my posts.

I respond to most of your...

Re: 24" bass drum - 10" main snare, surely not?

It does surprise for it's size, but it's a distinctive voice.

Thank you :)

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Ok, that's my first listen, & I like it very much. Of course, huge skill from all players hits you in the face, & although arrangements are complexed, it doesn't come across as being complicated for...

Re: NAMM 2015: Premier 'The Beast' Snare

It's already been done, & in just about every combination you can think of. I could go into ridiculous detail about this, but the bottom line is - drums resonate as a whole instrument, not as...

Re: Brain fart

You're absolutely correct Larry. Tempo management sucked. That, & the guitarist not starting the mid fill riff on the "1" of the 3rd bar consistently. All that said, this clip was taken a few...

Re: The 2 products that struck me at NAMM

This is a fairly typical exhibition experience IMO Larry, & one I've mini ranted about before. We always tune our drums well, but if we've only got 2 or 3 kits on display, it's difficult to cover...

Re: 24" bass drum - 10" main snare, surely not?

Thank you, but I have to report, to my disgrace, those drums haven't been tuned since they had the crap knocked out of them at the London Drum Show in November. Must do better! ;)

Re: 24" bass drum - 10" main snare, surely not?

A 13" should certainly offer a great deal of flexibility. I suspect your snare shell is somewhat limiting it's output :(

Thank you :)

The woods gave it a very natural reverb. Loved...
