Re: New band - very loud drummer - question

Have the other guy play loud as hell while the loud guy listens- he should be able to see the error of his ways. I was hard hitter too and it went away with some band experience. Get him some hot...

Re: So where did this stuff come from?

Not that its relevant but I cant stand this kind of music. However, I have seen a bit of it here and there and I do feel that the blazing drums adds a higher level of percieved skill to the...

Re: How far do you take air drumming in your car?

Always have a stick- just one though for safety. Often play time on my thigh which is good excercise since there is no rebound. Easy to drop it and steer if need be too.

Re: Possibly one of the best videos I've ever seen...

This video looks to me like it was sped up a bit. Watch the bass player later on. Just a little too jumpy to be natural.

Re: Do you ever feel more creative.....

I feel better on a smaller kit. 2 toms max. More is just confusing at this point but about 105 of the time I want a third for that last hit or 2.

I also like a big kick. Just the way it feels...

Re: What beat of a measure do you adjust yourself on?

You all are lucky that you get to decide when to let it out...

I always adjust myself somewhere between 4 and 1 depending onwhat I am playing.

I use a roc-n-soc throne and it slides a bit which...

Re: Cowbell placement

Recently moved mine so its between snare and rack and its nice because you can easily play it with either hand. Its almost over the snare by an inch or so but tucks in there nicely.

On a long...

Re: The biggest gear hoarders in DW

I have 7 a kits and 1 ekit and about 20 cymbals which I think is above average by quite a bit but the sky is the limit.

3 of them are at friends houses. Just easier to get a cheap used kit than...

Re: Do you put a button at the end of every live song?

Re: Most egotistical genre ;)

How about math metal or math rock whatever you call it. As far as I can tell, the only people who like it are those who play it and it seems that the whole point is to show off your ability to play...

Re: Do you put a button at the end of every live song?

OK, after a few years of paying attention around here, I still dont know what the hell shave and a haircut means? Is it a beat or something just played on the snare like a 1 &a2 & kind of thing? ...

Re: How many of you guys mic your kits at home?

Audix kit- kick, snare and 2 overheads and I use it to help me hear myself practice etc. because it protects my ears. Back to a 6 channel mixer where I can plug in phones and ipod.

Always wanted...

Re: Guiness- Largest Drum set

Depends on where it was. IF there was an earthquake and all those cymbal stacks fell you would look like sliced salami. Not thanks for me.

Think the average person or drummer thinks this is...

Re: Completely different activities that in some ways are like drumming?

Was going to say that there is a certain rhythmic activity that my wife and I engage in that is very similar to how you describe riding a horse.

I would say that playing a good game of tennis has...

Re: Your ideal drummer/the drummer you aspire to be

Steve Jordan is on top of my current list. DEEP groove, syncopation but always for the song.

Re: Advice for a Dad...

This +1. Think piano is next for him.

At my house we have a musical playground of sorts. A room with a kit (3) guitars, mics and small junk PA, small set of keys etc. but I have friends over now...
