Re: Dave Lombardo snare circa 1990

Definitely NOT a Starclassic snare. The Starclassic drums were introduced in 1994.

I have a Tama "Profile 91/92" catalog where it says Dave uses the 3 1/4x14 Birch piccolo.
In Modern Drummers...

Re: Tony Williams

The Zildjian A Custom line was introduced at the January 1992 NAMM gathering.

In 1990, Zildjian ran an ad in which Tony used 15" K Hihats, 18", 15" and 20" K Dark Crashes, and a 22" K Ride. It...

Re: What are your favourite recorded drumsounds?

I thought they were Pork Pie drums. Anyhow, for me, those 18x18 bass drums just don't cut it.

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta

Wrong. That was the 60's. Today, Paiste and Ludwig are independent of each other.
Besides, Vinnie is not endorsing Ludwig anymore, but still endorsing Paiste.

Lots of companies make hihat-to-bass drum attachments.

Re: Dave Lombardo kicked off Slayers Aus Tour and ripped off by band mates/management?

He mentioned this in a Modern Drummer interview. Apparently ends his single stroke fills with a double stroke, to be able to hit a crash with his right on the start of the next measure.

Re: Utopia: The Seven Rays; Need Assistance

The second part involves some 3/16 things.

First measure of second part is 6/4 + 3/16.

Re: TAMA Artstar snare used by Randy Castillo

Artstar ( with Cordia inner ply) = Birch shell
Artstar II = Maple shell

I believe Randy used a Piano Black Tama Superstar kit on the Ultimate Sin tour, later tours were white Artstar II's.

- Drumming is not "noise".

I have the 2011 Paiste Official Magazine. There's an article about John Douglas work - it says he painted Nickos new 50" gong.

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi Gavin!

Was that a Sonor Hilite kit you used on the recent Denver clinic?

What did you think of it? That kit has to be about twenty years old!

Re: Converted Ludwig Supersensitive Snare

Not necessarily new holes. You could use an adapter plate, like this one:

Re: Will any acrolite do?

You say you were unhappy with your Swingstar snare. Was it 5" or 6,5" ? I have a 6,5" and it's sounds pretty good.

I see you bought a 5" Acrolite. If your Swingstar was also 5" , I don't think...
