I have 2 Unix snares and they are amazing pieces of work. Francois is VERY easy to work with and without providing sizing, it would be hard to ballpark.

I have both beech and maple stave snares. They are absolute cannons. I suspect whatever you choose will be loud just due to the stave makeup

I picked up a DrumWallet a few weeks back...very cool little device for 25 bux. Versatile that it can be taken on and off with your stick in hand. Not a heavy damper, but takes the overtones out.

I use the Canopus leather washers as well. Heads stay tighter, longer with them over steel and nylon.
