Re: Most "iconic" drum parts from each decade?

As far as the 70's are concerned the drum intro from Steve Millers "Take the Money and Run" immediately comes to my mind as a part drummers and non drummers alike would immediately recognize...... or...

Re: Rush MTS Centre Winnipeg May 24

Well the fact that they hadn't been to my home town (Winnipeg) in over 25 years goes a long way to explain why I had not seen them more often. And besides...absence makes the heart grow fonder or so...

Rush MTS Centre Winnipeg May 24

Just saw Rush last night for the first time in almost 30 years. It had actually been since 1982 the last time Rush was here in Winnipeg but by then I had lost interest in their music. I saw them a...

Re: Fans of 70's drum sound

You want to hear a raw honest unadulterated drum sound from the 70's check out the drumming on Rod Stewart's Every Picture Tells a Story album....apologies but the drummers name escapes me at the...

Re: I'm switching to trad, TROUBLESHOOTING. Trad experts please!

Switching to traditional was the best thing I ever did. I just could never match up my left hand to my right in matched grip, particularly the finger coordination. Traditional just freed up my left...

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

Same weaknesses common to most of the posters on this thread but the one that bugs me the most is lack of imagination/creativity. For personal reasons I have not been able to play for a few months...

Re: 'Feel' and 'Groove' - (the development and importance of)

Interesting thread. We all recognize a drummer with a solid groove but it seems very hard to describe in words. I don't think I'll try...

Re: Larry Mullen U2 in 3d at Imax

There may be some truth in what you say PQ...U2 is certainly a band that is greater than the sum of it's parts...I was impressed by Adam Claytons bass playing however but I think that has more to do...

Larry Mullen U2 in 3d at Imax

I just caught the U2 performace last night in 3d at the Imax theater. If you are a U2 fan (or even if you're not) I would highly recommend it. The 3d effect puts you right on stage with the band and...

Re: Rock Band as Beginner Independence Training

Unfair of me to say as well having never played the game and while as Mars Tesla points out it may to a limited degree have some benefits as a practice tool I think it's biggest value may be to turn...

I love "How it's Made" I never find it boring...I could watch them make pencils (actually I have seen that one), I just find the whole manufacturing process fascinating. The drum ones were...

Re: Upgrading my Stage Custom Kit

Well I am biased but I would stick with Yamaha myself. That said apart from the sound quality I really like the variety of finishes that Mapex offers on their kits, but I still feel that Yamaha...

Re: THE YAMAHA DRUMS THREAD

I've had my Stage Customs for just over two years (cranberry red lacquer), I absolutely love them although I have to admit that I replaced the snare with a high end Pearl maple. I use EC2 heads for...
