Re: My Gurus through my PA.

Actually, you don't need headphones. Those drums sounded great through my tiny iPhone speakers. That's why you get Guru's ;)

Re: Help! Non-dominant hand needs it

Well, don't just do drumming stuff like that. Start doing everything with your right hand; open doors, handle other tools, etc.,.... Gene Krupa said that once. He wanted to coordinate his weak...

Re: Ginger Bakers Latest

I guess the reality of it is, is that we will all get older and pass away. But I'm not sure I want to be seen playing "not at the top of my form" when (and if) I really get up there.

I studied...

Re: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

No Yamaha presence in England? For a festival that you just did, I think a 32-channel Yamaha M7 would've been perfect! And with the digital capabilities, you could store different mixes for each...

Re: Pearl Free Floater (advice)

I can understand the swappable shell idea. I thought about that too back in the day, but then I realized it wasn't something you could do instantly on the fly - so it became easier to carry a wooden...

Re: Pearl Free Floater (advice)

Off topic question, but in terms of the free floating shell - does that even work? Throughout my career, I've had the chance to play many a Free Floater and although they "free float" the shell,...

Re: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

You did a festival with only 16 channels? Brave man. Very brave. I would've rented a 32 channel console at least.

Re: playing along with stuff

This is good advice. But if I may add what I heard bass session great Anthony Jackson say to a group of young people, he said sometimes playing along with records is the only way to get to play with...

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

Andy probably wouldn't feel so attached to the drums he sells if they made them all single-headed, though ;)

Well, he'd probably say he'd be attached to them anyway because they'd never sell!

Re: Ginger Bakers Latest

No worries. I do it too. Here's this clip of Louie Bellson in 2008. I mean, in his heyday (which wasn't that long ago) the man was always on fire. This '08 concert is nice and the music is good,...

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

I'm not sure I've regretted flipping any kits I've owned. And I like to think it was that Buddy Rich mentality I was taught early on that "If you can play - then you can play on anything" attitude. ...

Re: Ginger Bakers Latest

There wasn't anything wrong with that performance, though, right? I get he's getting along, but he's still doin' it. I only hope I'll get to be playing when I get there, too.

And his drums...

Re: Recording help

On my Zoom R16 (which also records 8 simultaneous), it boasts phantom power but only on two channels. Perhaps your BOSS is the same way? Owner's manual time?
