Similar story in NYC, where real estate is fundamentally priced now for hedge fund salaries and bonuses. Chelsea, East village, soho, west 4th are no longer the hubs of little cultural revolutions....

I agree that thats when things slowed down, but could that be a coincidence? Back then one could smoke in public, restaurants, cabs.. it didnt stop them from using cabs or eating out?
