Re: Painting the Inside of Drums

No, this was a full Hollywood set. 22, 12, 13, 16, Champagne Sparkle. Fantastic condition, too.

Re: Painting the Inside of Drums

Agreed, however, I'm more interested in the tone than the resale value. If I can score an amazing piece of musical history that still sounds classic at a cheaper price and there weren't any...

Painting the Inside of Drums

I recently saw a late 60's Keystone badge Ludwig kit on eBay that the owner had painted the interior black. This made me curious how much this would affect the sound of the drums if done properly. ...

Re: Mapex Saturn: Quality & Price Question

I paid $1200 for my Mapex Saturn Jazz kit in March. 20x18, 10x8, 12x9, 14x14.

I've owned a DW kit and I currently have a Spaun Acrylic/Maple Hybrid set that I love, but I truly think these...

Re: I'd like to know your thoughts!!! Help me out

OR you can get an acrylic/maple hybrid set like I did by Spaun and be completely happy with the big acrylic sound combined with the warm maple resonance.

Re: Living Colour - what else is out there

All GREAT examples.

This is a little less cool, but the drumming is awesome, check out the Spin Doctors. It's way more poppy, but the musicianship is pretty good.

Re: I'd like to know your thoughts!!! Help me out

Mapex, all the way.

I just saw a Crush set that was a 6 piece exactly like the one pictured at a local music store. It sounded and looked amazing, but very limited.

Anyway, the Mapex Saturns...

Re: WHo Works With Musicians Who Understand The Drums?

The frontman for the band I just joined is an amazing drummer and has been absolutely awesome to work with when explaining ideas, rhythms, emphases, etc.

Re: How Far Do You Go?

In every band and recording situation I have ever been in, I am THE member who makes it to every recording session. I'm always there to bounce ideas off the strings and vocalists and whatever other...

Re: Were You Destined to Be a Drummer?

Actually, I do have a very similar early indication I was supposed to be a drummer. I would take the empty tubs of ice cream we had that my dad kept screws and nails, etc in and I'd play them with...

Re: Bands with two drummers

I saw Radiohead recently and they played with Phil Selway AND Clive Deamer (Portis Head's drummer). All in all, it was done very tastefully. I approve, when it is done well.

Re: Punk Drummer Sound Off!

I grew up on Rancid, NOFX, Bad Religion, Thrice, Strung Out, the Vandals, AFI, etc. I am a newer school punk rocker at the heart and still jam out with some ex-band mates to our old punk stuff.

Howdy Y'all!

I'm selling my Mapex Saturn set in Transparent Walnut that I just got in March. This beautiful little set has never left my apartment and has only been used with brushes.

Re: Hitting yourself while playing drums...

The one that always gets me is when I'm going to catch a cymbal and I am off just a little and the cymbal slides underneath my thumbnail.

Re: If I wanted to get into Jazz Drumming what would be 3 great records to start with?

I'm surprised I haven't seen A Love Supreme by John Coltrane on this list.

Please don't boycott this album...

Re: Earning your gear?

One thing to also think about is how having better gear can positively affect your growth as a drummer. When I got my first expensive snare (and set), it completely changed the way I played. ...
