Re: Yamaha Recording Customs - Help!!

wow!!! What a score!

Re: DW drums being "Overpriced"

There is no doubt that in the last 15 years, DW marketing has been genius.

I'd say:

Re: DW drums being "Overpriced"

It is indeed a false perception.

In the early 90's, DW drums were a bit more than most of the name brands.

I know in the 80's, DW only shipped COD, and didn't offer dealers traditional 30...

Re: SJC Drums and "The Profit" TV Show

^ This.

Anyone who says "just another "keller boutique company" isn't knocking their sound, or looks. Most people know if you get a "keller boutique" drum set, you're going to end up with a good...

Re: Yamaha Detectives: Please Help Me Decode My Recording Customs...

I'm not sure why any site wouldn't say Cherry was an option.

From when it was introduced in the very early 80's, it was never NOT offered.

Other colors came and went, but Cherry was a constant.

Re: Rock Gigs Not Very Rock Anymore?

I'd have to agree.

As much as I love live music, and as much as I support the idea of musicians playing, there are so many bands that just give playing live a bad name.

The OP is in Scotland, and roughly 1/2 the responses in this thread are from people who don't live in America. lol

Re: The 23" bass drum

No, because once you put a mic in there, and the engineer does their thing, and then you put the music over it, I don't think anyone hears the difference.

I own every Rush album and DVD. But it's...

Re: Vintage Drum Revelation

^ this is true.

The vintage kits that are sitting in studios, or highly prized by session drummers are the few good ones.

Or have been tricked out.

Re: How to naturally play quieter?

After being in a very loud band, rehearing and gigging constantly, it took me a while to get out of the habit of playing loud all the time.

Like Watso and WhoisTony said, work on...

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

The whole "bottoms heads removed, with 10 year old pitted pinstripes on top" look you sometimes see with bar bands.

Re: New find! 80's Wailin Smash video = ultimate epicness :)

^ This.

All I can say about this video is what I've said about this others: If you can find the budget for such a large drum set up and video recording, why not hire a bass player and guitar play...

Re: Rock and roll....over?

I wouldn't say over, but I'd think stale.

One can look at era's of jazz and hear the difference between the early Dixialand, the big band, and the later bob eras.

Once can listen to rock and...

Re: Why the hate? (Lars Ulrich)

You can't just compare them side by side without look at the historical context.

Lars set the precedence, and put his better works before the Rev ever owned a...

Re: Keeping stands/drums in the same position

Black nail polish also works well to mark stands. It won't rub off, but comes off easily enough with nail polish remover.

It also helps to have a long coffin style case for stands so...

Re: Anybody seen these yet?

I walked by them at NAMM.

I'm not really sure what DW was going for, given they put this out with the PDP name while also trying to offer lower price point DW kits.
