Re: XxxXxxXxxXxxXxXx...

Can't agree with you more.

Crazy coincidence, yeah...

I've got the song recorded playing both the beat and just straight. It doesn't not work in either example, you are quite right in...

Re: XxxXxxXxxXxxXxXx...

I really didn't want to specifically target "Clocks" or Coldplay, the beat appears in many places. I did also mention another cliché beat on the intro to "Be My Baby" which got no ground, (there...

Re: XxxXxxXxxXxxXxXx...

For someone who's asked not to make the thread personal, it sure feels like you did exactly that by saying my thoughts were dumb.

Congrats on all your successes.

Re: XxxXxxXxxXxxXxXx...

The funny thing is, although you may be onto something with a lack of sophistication, he's probably one of the best songwriters I've ever worked with. While I'm talking about theory, he's talking...

Re: What are people comfortable with playing?

One band is alt rock, fairly straight forward... the other is country / bluegrass, so some train beats and shuffles.

Re: Is it me or is this incredibly cheeky?

I was using a pedal as an analogy, it could have been any item you needed to perform.

Re: Is it me or is this incredibly cheeky?

I wouldn't have hesitated to let him use the stand, although I would have jokingly given him a hard time about the cymbals.

Next thing you know your kick pedal goes down and he's the only other...

Re: Most Embarrassing Arguments You've Made...

Not so much an argument as a statement I made...

When I was around 17-18, I told the guys in the punk band I played with that I'd never "slow down" on drums.

I did play with a progressive punk...

Re: XxxXxxXxxXxxXxXx...

I was holding quarters on the hats which at least kept my brain occupied.

Re: XxxXxxXxxXxxXxXx...

I wish it were that simple of an answer. Sure, "Clocks" gets a little repetitive, but I wouldn't skip it if it came on the shuffle.

Variant on the above, (U2, Beautiful Day) would be XxxXxxXx (Coldplay, Clocks), or "resolving quarter note triplets".

Working on new material yesterday, songwriter...

Re: Band problems

"Waste of time... minimal problems like this wouldn't be picked up by the audience."

Extremely immature attitude.

I was asked to join one of the bands I play with for the exact reason your...

Re: New set for summer. Acrylic or Wood????

Great post, Al.

I was hired for my first wedding gig when I was 14. I played my Tama Rockstar DX's with my Zildjian Scimitar cymbals.

Although I upgraded cymbals over time, I'd guess I put...

Re: Great gig but where is everyone?

Amen. I've done a few shows where when the night was a bomb, we broke away from the set, some great jams came out of these types of nights.

Re: OMG!!! BONZO: The Groove Remains The Same (Encore!) Performance

I feel privileged enough as it is to have played on the same stages as some of the guys listed there.

Doing it on the same night would be a highlight of a career, congrats Nick!

Re: Combichrist drum/percussion sets

From the examples shown, I've yet to see anyone looking cool playing keyboards.

Emerson was close, but I think it had more to to with the editing than him.

Also, is it just me or did anyone...
