Re: Musicians Say streaming Music will Leave them Broke.

Writing is on the wall. Consumers basically get everything for cheap.
The only money is in touring now. You have to play live.

Re: The matching snare

And so who exactly is 'so-calling' anybody experts on here?
You are completely right, to each his own.
But its not 'obtuse' to have a differing opinion, or make a simple observation that there is...

Re: Name that rhythm

Whaaaat? Love that tune, never knew that was a flat tire shuffle. Also never thought of genesis as a shufflin' kinda band.

Re: hi hat dis-assembly

with the exception of the remote hihat stand, I often wondered why of all the drum hardware, nobody has really innovated the hihat stand to break down more easily..., somehow.

some nifty widget...

Re: My First Ludwig Acrolite

Brian - nice drums, are those 1950's Ludwigs, WFL's or Leedy's?
I had Blacrolite. Stupidly sold it. Its my fave colour of the 'Acro' family.

Re: First time buyer advice

All those kits are all good choices but I would choose the Pearl Sessions hands down. You can add as you go the other stuff.

Not sure what year they are, but be sure the 'older' drum depths in...

Re: Negative Progress / Quitting

Yes this is totally just in your head. You are becoming more critical with time.
Neil Peart stopped near the peak of his career to....change his approach, and take lessons.
Maybe take a break, but...

Re: Played my first Gig last night.

Sorry gotta say, I have a djembe too but 2 whole sets of that anywhere is....well... boring.
Its the same sound. OK for a tune or three, not 15.

A singer and acoustic guitarist will sound...

Re: Pearl Masters Custom Maple

a hole where the tom mount is/was will not affect the sound.
I think bass drum tom mounts are very efficient with space , save setup time and do not affect overall sound. maybe you should try the...

Re: bass drum depth

Deep bass drums are pretty much post 70's right. What has happened is 'bottom end' (or perceived bottom end Andy?) seems to have grown in most pop forms of music through the 80's to now. Music is...

Re: Pearl Masters Custom Maple

should ask him the sizes/depths. You'll likely not want deep toms. e.g. 12 x 9, or 12 x8 is good....but not deeper.
they looked in really good shape.

Re: Elvin Jones Interview from 1968

Great story, imagery.
I found some of it sad in some ways, in the sense of the pay scale and conditions of some of these great musicians.
It seemed jazz did not treat its genius musicians too...

Re: Gretsch Renown - thinking about buying

Somebody serious about selling their kit fro $700 would let you check the bearing edges, or he could loosen remove the heads before you got there.

I've bought many used kits and its usually not an...

Re: Tama Starclassic Snare Help

In *general* birch is brighter, maple warmer tones, bubinga lower tones.Looking in the drum, you will only see the innermost ply.

But if this snare sounds good to you, it is no matter what kind of...
