Re: Bands and tempo arguments

That's why he is the guitar player. This is typical.
You don't need to buy or use nay gadgets other than play back recordings to show them about tempo and that everybody keeps tempo. As suggested...

Re: Unanswered Threads

Should a thread hear back from the OP within say... 2 days?
What's a polite timeline for this? What's message board etiquette say? Curious.

Re: Most resonant / warm drums?

$1200 USD is plenty in my books. Can get a great kit for less than that.

Re: extreme tom angles and snare tilt

I can actually see it for the snare, but his toms way off to his left, its a ridiculous location and angle for my arms. i do enjoy seeing un-conventions for setups though.

Re: Where's Magenta?

You are indeed correct, not since Dec 22 2014 (view her profile 'stats'). I also noticed her absence. To be honest, I presumed she got offended by one of those threads or exchnaganes that went off...

Re: Unanswered Threads

yes. As a reader quite frankly I don't particularly enjoy reading through somebody's "non-answers' to a specific question on a thread, be it mine or somebody elses. I prefer reading or getting to...

Re: John H. Beck: The Snare that Auditioned 1,618 Students

That's a pretty famous snare drum that has seen a lot of hands. I hope it sticks around. I think drums should be played but some deserve museum-piece preservation status, like say Al Jackson Jr's kit.

Re: dumb question about keyholing

I have no issue buying cymbals with keyholes. You can setup a certain way and its no problem, especially if you tilt your cymbals. bets thing is it is a bargaining point to get the seller down in...

Re: US/Canadian exchange rates INSANE

ebay shopping for canadians suck right now. one is the exchange rate, the other is the new ebay international shipping system. it sends all packages through a central sort facility in the midwest,...

Re: Help identifying kit (60's kit?)

It's all Made in Japan stencil kit and mismatched too, so if you need a price I would say $100 for all, at most.

Re: I'm back. Did you miss me?

This week I was listening to an early 70's Who CD and recalled how Keith Moon had a set of clear Zickos. I then thought, "hey that guy Zickos hasn't posted for a long time". Now I see why. Glad for...

Re: This kit set up intrigues me

Interesting - kind of a modified Bruford setup, except toms closer in on the 2 sides.
It's a big travel from high 12 tom to low 14 or 16 toms, if you were going to do a roll up/down them for...

Re: Question about hand technique on the texas shuffle

And I thought 'Texas Shuffle' was shuffling with two limbs, unisons -
so snare hand and ride, or kick and ride, or snare and kick - any two doing the 'shuffle' pattern.

Re: Peter Erskine moves to Tama...

I don't understand that perception, when one of their earliest endorsers (endorsees) was Elvin Jones....late 70's....Billy Cobham, Bill Bruford soon after...

I never make a big deal about this....
