Re: Engineering jobs at a drum company?

Here's my $0.02 from a Mechanical Engineering student at a top engineering school.

I've had many similar questions, and through what has become a huge body of experience in a very short time have...

Re: Help Identifying Mapex

They certainly were two different lines, but Mapex pegged them as in a sense 'both these are pro kits just pick your favorite sound' when that was not true. I'm not saying it was false advertising-...

Re: Help Identifying Mapex

Looks to me like a Mapex M-Birch kit based on the paint job, shell sizes, and the bright wood on the kick hoop. Not bad intermediate level kits, what do they want for it though?

Re: Mixer + Interface

Is it USB 2.0 or old-school USB 1.0/1.1? I distinctly remember a local audio rec prof saying that FW was the way to go because USB 1.0 could not handle more than 2 channels and 1.1 could barely...

Re: Mixer + Interface

I may be wrong, but I believe the 2222FX uses USB to connect to your computer...in which case USB is only able to handle 2 channels of audio. Also, MAGIX only can multi-track 2 tracks at a time (so...

Re: Cutting Hi-hat rod... Advice?

pipe cutter did the trick for a friend of mine
as does a large gauge bolt cutter (and honestly, who couldn't use a bolt cutter)

Re: Totally lost on recording gear

Agreed!

Shure mics are classic standards, I'm partial to Sterling Audio mics, Audix makes some things fairly cheap of good quality. Firepod is reliable, cheap, and has great sound quality. Throw...

Oh thank you everyone, I really and truly appreciate this award. I didn't actually prepare a speech...(because my speechwriter and legal team had to do it so I don't get sued)

anyways,

Re: I broke my snare throw off

I second fixing up the snare. Until you get the new tension rods in, theres no chance of even tuning, but those are only a couple bucks. The snare wires will run you $10 to $20, and the throw-off...

Re: Recording Studio questions

unsigned bands are not part of a record label, and as such have more freedom to do what they want with their music and band decisions. bands referred to as "signed" are part of a record label and...

Re: what should I buy? rmv concept, mapex mbirch or tama superstar

As said a few posts up, if you wait a bit for the Mapex to release their new lines, the M-Birch and Pro-M kits will be dirt cheap. They are great kits, and if you get the 6 or 7 piece options,...

Those things are terrible, possibly the worst drums I've ever used! No matter what heads and tunings I've used on those (since there are about 8973245 different rebrandings of that) have never...

Re: PDP platinum vs Mapex pro m

The Pro M's are dirt cheap right now if you look in the right places (MassMusic.net in particular) and they sound amazing as is, so for $600-$700, they really can't be beat. That said, the Platinum...

Re: Starclassic Vs. Force 3007

The Performer, in my opinion, is the better kit. This is not to say a 3007 is bad, but the Starclassic is a low-end professional kit while the 3007 is a high-end intermediate kit. There isn't a...
