| The Russ Miller Signature Wedge.. |
|
|
The idea for the wedge series of instruments started with me during a recording session in Los Angeles. Some of my favorite snare drums are 13" and 12" diameters. The 12" snares record very well and seem to have a natural punchy/compressed sound. The 13" snares have a very versatile sound. They have drive, but when detuned, also have depth. I could never use a 13" or 12" diameter drum as a primary snare because it was impossible to get to the "sweet" spot on the stick for a proper crosstick sound. I use the Yamaha Vintage Wood Hoops on my entire kit. I love the crosstick sound from the Vintage Hoops on a standard 14" snare. Therefore, it would be great to get that incredible crosstick sound on my 13" and 12" snares.
Thus, the "Groove-Wedge" was born! This instrument provides a perfect crosstick sound on drums that are 13" in diameter
and smaller. It also makes it possible to get the great "wood" crosstick sound on 15" and 14" snares that are fitted with standard metal hoops. Also, there are sonic benefits that occur on any drum. By attaching the Wedges to any metal hooped drum, extraneous overtones are slightly muted. This helps any snare or toms recordability.

It looks great! Thank you very much for including me. I have some videos to send you, one that is exclusive to your site. Maybe next time we can hook up. Wow! One of the best sites on drums/drummers that I've seen! Great job. I will let you know next time I'm over there. I did a big clinic outside of Zurich at a Drummers camp there, have you been over there? Thank you so much for your time and keep up the good work.
