Known most recently for touring with Ringo Starr, Five For Fighting and Smash Mouth, Randy currently resides in Los Angeles where he maintains a busy recording/touring schedule.
His introduction to drumming came from his father William Cooke who was a snare drummer in the Toronto Scottish Regiment Pipes And Drums. Having received a scholarship from the Royal Conservatory of Music studying with Beverley Johnson and David Kent, he went on to study drums privately with Dan Bodanis and Rick Gratton.
His first band was a Toronto 7 piece funk/reggae band called Phase IV. He went on to tour and record with a plethora of Canadian and US artists before moving to the US.
Randy has had numerous television appearances, including Jay Leno, David Letterman, Regis & Kelly, Rachel Ray, A&E Private Sessions, Larry King, CBS Early Show, The View, Martha Stewart, and was featured at the Montreal Drum Festival 2004.
He has also appeared in Drums Etc. (Cover Story), Modern Drummer Magazine, and been the recipient of a multitude of gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards.
He is an active player, educator and clinician, and is endorsed byYamaha drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Regal Tip Sticks (has his own" Randy Cooke" signature stick), and Remo drum heads.
