With over 20 years of live performance and studio work behind him, Paul maintains a busy schedule on the London circuit and is highly regarded in the industry. Though probably best known for his groundbreaking drumming with the Shaun Baxter Band, Paul has played with many top musicians, including internationally acclaimed guitarist, Frank Gambale. He is currently gigging and recording new albums with leading London Fusion band, Four Corners and the Shaun Baxter Band as well as working on his own solo album. Other recent recordings include the acclaimed first album ?28? for singer-songwriter, Jont.
Paul was also invited to play at the UK Yamaha “Groove night”, featuring leading International drummers Sonny Emory and Akiro Jimbo, together with a wealth of UK drum talent.
TEACHER
Paul is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Powerhouse Schools of Music, in association with The London College Of Music & Media. Paul teaches private lessons and various modules on the BMus Popular Music Performance and MMus courses. With over a decade of teaching experience, Paul is renowned for his innovative methods and systems. Former students include Phil Selway ( Radiohead ), Dominic Greensmith (Reef ), Ashley Soan ( Faithless, Squeeze), Jason Cooper ( The Cure ), Laurie Jenkins ( Heather Nova ), Mark Heaney (The Seahorses) and Chris hall ( Jont, Joe&Danny).
CLINICIAN
Paul has performed countless clinics/masterclasses in Drum Stores, Music Colleges and at National Music Shows, both independently and for Yamaha/Zildjian. Paul recently performed a clinic in Finland and is currently finalising plans for a clinic tour of Norway. Paul has shared the stage with leading International Drummers Steve Smith (Steps Ahead, Journey) Manu Katche (Sting, PeterGabriel) Richard Bailey(Incognito)Mark Mondesir (Courtney Pine, Julian Joseph) and, most recently alongside leading Japanese drummer, Akiro Jimbo.
AUTHOR
Paul has written Degree course Modules on Drum Techniques, Sight Reading, Rhythm Studies, Specialised Playing Styles, Applied Rock Studies and R&B Performance, together with literally hundreds of unique practise systems soon to be published.
He is also a contributor to the national Magazines “Rhythm”, Yamaha “Backbeat” and “Drums UK”
COMPOSER
Paul has written tunes for the “Rock School” graded examinations, as well as other commissions and writing projects, including three tunes on the critically acclaimed “Jazz Metal” Album.
He also wrote and produced the stage musical “ The Promise”.
He is currently putting the finishing touches to his first solo album entitled “New World Concerto For Drums”.
